Off to the sand! Protagonist Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and one of his mentors Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin) in the desert are showing a new image for the remake of Dune by director Denis Villeneuve, just as they are climbing an ornithopter. Villeneuve says the scene is a key moment in Paul's life.
Film fans are looking forward to the remake of Dune, which will be released in two parts and directed by Denis Villeneuve. Villeneuve has already demonstrated its skills with films such as Blade Runner 2049, Arrival and Sicario. In the past few weeks there have been first scenes from Dune, and this time there's a new photo of sandy desert action. You can see Paul Atreides (played by Timotheé Chalamet) and one of his two mentors Gurney Halleck (played by Josh Brolin) as they climb the loading ramp of an ornithopter who is about to take off. Ornithopters are the wing-winged wings, which are preferred on the desert planet Arrakis. The picture was published exclusively by Empire magazine.
According to the Authors of film starts Villeneuve describes the scene shown to Empire magazine as a key moment for Paul Atreides' development. "It is Paul's first contact with the depths of the desert and he is mesmerized by it," Villeneuve is quoted as saying. "He has the strange feeling of being at home there. There is a lot of action at this special moment and it is one of the scenes that I am particularly proud of."
The first part of Dune is expected to hit theaters in December 2020; the studio is targeting December 17th. There is not yet a first trailer, but the impressions that already exist from the film work give hope for a moving-picture teaser soon. Pass the time until then with this trailer.
This is the first of many planned film adaptations of Frank Herbert's material from 1984 that David Lynch has made. At that time Paul Atreides was played by Kyle "Dale Cooper" MacLachlan, Gurney Halleck by Patrick "Cpt. Jean-Luc Picard" Stewart.
