The sandbox MMO Albion Online has been in Free2Play mode since April 2019. This change went hand in hand with some changes: The developers of Sandbox Interactive published a new tutorial, improved some key elements and eliminated numerous weak points. PvE fans in particular got their money's worth from the random dungeons.

The change seems to have been successful – because in April of this year Albion Online was able to crack the 500,000 "monthly user brand" for the first time. According to the developers, this is of course partly due to the ongoing corona pandemic, but also due to the content update "Queen", in which the end game of the sandbox MMO was revised.

And now? Now one wants to deliver in August 2020 with the next update called "Rise of Avalon", which among other things "Corrupted Dungeons" will provide.

Corrupted dungeons in Albion Online

The upcoming content update "Rise of Avalon" will implement, among other things, a new feature in the world of Albion. These dungeons are PvPvE content, which Sandbox Interactive claims is designed for solo players. (via Albion Online Dev Talk)

To find the entrances to these new corrupted dungeons, all you have to do is travel the world – they appear there like normal randomized solo dungeons. When entering, we can distinguish between three different levels of difficulty:

  • Hunter
    • Reduced loot, knockout PvP rules, relatively low softcap on item power.
    • A good place to start learning the basics of 1v1 PvP in Albion Online.
  • Stalker
    • Complete PvP, much better loot, but still low softcap of item power.
    • Good for PvP veterans.
  • killer
    • Even better loot, full PvP, bigger PvE challenges, and a much higher softcap of item power.
    • This is the elite level for advanced players.

What do you have to do in corrupted dungeons?

Once you've entered the dungeon, it's all about collecting Wickedness points. Each servant killed earns you a different number of points depending on the difficulty and strength of the creature itself.

After collecting enough wickedness, the Corrupted Dungeon's final boss will appear. Collect as much infamy as possible because:

  • Vicious points count for your place in your own Wickedness ranking
  • Vicious points permanently improve the Rewards from Corrupted Dungeons

At the end of the dungeon, a small portal will appear, so you have the choice:

  • Do I want to visit another Corrupted Dungeon?
  • Do I want to leave the dungeon and take my loot into town?

How does PvP work in Corrupted Dungeons?

Every Corrupted Dungeon has a demonic shrine – you can log in there to raid other players. Once you've signed up, the game will search for invasion targets – after that you'll be transported to your target's dungeon. Now you can:

  • Fight the intruder, or
  • destroy the demonic shards that appeared during the player's transportation

Once you've destroyed the shards, the haunt is banished from your dungeon so you can focus on collecting your low point.

Attention: If you are killed by an intruder, you will lose part of your wicked points, which will pass to your conqueror. This rises in the ranking and can thus improve his loot from future dungeons.
