Animated series for Disney + reportedly already in the works

from Matthias Brückle
Kingdom Hearts is the intersection of Disney stories and the genre JRPG – it is surprising to some that there are no films or series yet. According to various sources, this is exactly what is to change.

The story of the Kingdom Hearts game series can hardly be summed up in a few words, let alone told in a film. In this respect, an implementation would only be conceivable as a series, what according to Emre Kaya from Cinemaspot: This is a project for the streaming platform Disney +, but the creators are not Disney artists, but the developer Studio Square Enix, from which the Kingdom Hearts games also originate. A pilot for the series is now to be created using the Unreal Engine.

Original voices for Disney characters in Kingdom Hearts

The casting for the pilot of the series is currently still to take place, although some figures may not need casting: According to the sources from Cinemaspot and TheDisInsider some speakers will return to their Disney roles, such as Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh), Bill Farmer (Goofy) and Tony Anselmo (Donald Duck).

Kingdom Hearts should be a series

Although the whole thing sounds promising for Kingdom Hearts fans, it probably doesn't hurt to keep expectations in check. On the one hand, this is unconfirmed information from Disney or Square Enix. On the other hand, there were plans for a Disney JRPG series a few years ago. However, those responsible for the project feared that the plot would differ too much from the template – accordingly, the idea of a KH series found no fertile ground at the time.
