The creators of Cyberpunk 2077 outlined structural changes in game development in an update video from the company. Among other things, this should improve the parallel development of AAA projects for The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 brands.
Cyberpunk 2077 was already teased in 2013 and promoted for the last two years, the release itself did not take place until the end of 2020. For many, these many years of built-up hype have only increased the disappointment with the finished game. In the future, those responsible at CD Projekt therefore want to promote new projects closer to the release. This is a direct response to my experience with the Cyberpunk 2077 marketing campaigns. This information comes from a video made by the company showing a restructuring of the organization.

The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077: From 2022, parallel development of new content
Adam Kiciński, head of CD Projekt, emphasizes that “the way we make games” is to be improved. The focus is clearly on two brands: Cyberpunk and The Witcher. Several teams will work on projects for both series of games at the same time, this double development will begin in 2022. For this purpose, existing development teams are also being enlarged and the outsourcing of external studios is being strengthened. The developer studio Digital Scapes from Vancouver becomes part of CD Projekt and renamed CD Projekt Vancouver.

A new roadmap also shows how the two core brands Witcher and Cyberpunk will be expanded this year: Cyberpunk 2077 will receive free DLCs and bug fixes, Gwent will be further developed and the mobile game The Witcher: Monster Slayer will appear. Both Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 also get a next-gen update.
