A new rumor has surfaced surrounding the RPG Final Fantasy 16. The game is said to be presented during the next PS5 showcase.
After Sony announced the new PS5 showcase for September 16, a rumor surfaced that Square Enix is planning to launch the new RPG for this event.
Are we seeing a new Final Fantasy?
Shinji Hashimoto, producer at Square Enix, shared Sony's tweet regarding the PS5 showcase. Hashimoto has historically only shared tweets when news from Square Enix is expected during such events. Hashimoto is rumored to be the producer of a new game that is supposedly Final Fantasy 16.
Insiders said that Final Fantasy 16 is actually in the works and should have been presented during the PS5 showcase in June. Why Sony and Square Enix took it off the show at the last minute is unclear. But apparently it should be ready now.
The role-playing game is said to be developed by the team behind the MMORPG Final Fantasy 14, even if producer Naoki Yoshida has already denied having anything to do with FF16. However, the one turned up Square Enix website the entry of a new game project that actually comes from the team behind Final Fantasy 14.
"We started a new core project after" Final Fantasy XIV "and took on the challenge for the next generation. This project has already completed the first development phase, the development environment has been prepared, and we are now in the comprehensive production phase. We are looking for developers that give the world "fun", "excitement" and "surprise", it says on the website, which also has an artwork. It is unclear whether this is Final Fantasy 16.
