The MMORPG ArcheAge Unchained is currently heavily criticized. Because the new update for the ArchePass introduces, in the opinion of some players, extreme Pay2Win elements. Meanwhile, Gamigo is promoting the game with a new free trial phase.
With ArcheAge Unchained, publisher Gamigo wanted one Buy2Play version of the MMORPG where players can basically experience the entire game by paying an amount of money just once. However, players should be able to buy cosmetic items and season passes. But the reality is a little different.
Heavy criticism from the ArcheAge community
As early as May of this year, there was an outcry in the community when the expansion "Garden of the Gods" was not offered free of charge as initially thought. The players had to buy them. That led to some criticism. Now the community of ArcheAge Unchained is again on the barricades.
Because an update to the ArchePass now introduces things like more work points, more hardworking coins and more infusions. So whoever buys the ArchePass gets a lot of advantages over those who "only" bought the MMORPG. On the website of the game, however, it can still be read: "Without overpowering premium items, players explore a fair world in which they can freely develop into their favorite characters."
This change is now heavily criticized on Reddit. Players are feeling fooled for still being asked to checkout more even though they thought they were getting a full and all-inclusive gaming experience by purchasing the game. After all, that should be the point of ArcheAge Unchained. A one-time purchase to bypass the many microtransactions of the regular version of the MMORPG.
Some of the community don't like the fact that a free trial campaign is now taking place to make more players aware of ArcheAge Unchained. ArcheAge is not having an easy time of it at the moment.
