After the first videos with gameplay for the multiplayer of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there is currently a discussion on the subject of "Damage Flinch" and how it affects the way you play.
The core of every shooter is the firefights and that of course also applies to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. When it comes to development, there are many possibilities in which direction a shooter will go. Realism or Arcade? How do the weapons behave? How does the player's health work? What kind of hit feedback is there? On the latter, there is currently a discussion in the community that also revolves around this topic.
What is "Damage Flinch"?
It refers to some form of hit feedbackwhich is supposed to create a feeling of realism in a shooter. If you get hit, your own crosshairs warp a littleto convey realism on the one hand and to signal the fire on the other.
This feature is available in Modern Warfare and Warzone, but Treyarch wants to move away from it for Black Ops Cold War.
Tony Flame, Lead Game Designer at Treyatch recently tweeted that this feature is to be changed for BOCW. Your crosshairs will no longer be warpedif you are hit, it only serves as an indicator that you are being hit.
You can get a first picture of the Open Beta yourself, when it will take place, you can read in the overview article on the multiplayer of Black Ops Cold War.
Where is the problem?
Not all players are happy with this decision. A Users commented on the tweet:
“You make this game easier and easier every damn year for adults. That's why I am not buying this game. I need a challenge. This shit is too easy. "
A additional user lamented that this was a step away from realism and that Treyarch only wanted to flatter the bad players who complain because they die from "Damage Flinch".
However, there are also many players who take this news positively. Only one thing continues to worry, because it is much easier for snipers to "Quick Scopen" even at medium and short distances, as nothing can prevent them from aiming. Except for yourself, of course, bad ping or the wrong gaming chair.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be released on November 13, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and PC as well as for PS5 and Xbox Series X as soon as they are on the market.
