Blizzard has erected a memorial to the late WoW player and PvP expert Byron "Reckful" Bernstein in the upcoming Shadowlands expansion: An NPC named Reckful stands in the Cathedral of Light from Stormwind and offers his services as a rogue trainer.
The developers of World of Warcraft remain true to a proven tradition and have immortalized another famous and now deceased WoW fan in Azeroth. How WoWHead reports, Shadowlands beta players may encounter a new NPC at Stormwind's Cathedral of Light. This NPC, who doubles as a villain trainer, is called Reckful – and is reminiscent of Byron "Reckful" Bernstein, who tragically passed away in early July 2020.
Reckful, the rogue teacher
Reckful was one of the most famous and popular members of the WoW community. Blizzard already introduced an NPC called Byron Burnside in Battle for Azeroth as a reference to amber. Bernstein was considered a PvP luminary and made a name for himself above all as a villain by, among other things, achieving a PvP rating of 3,000 and regularly traveling on Twitch as a streamer.
As news of Bernstein's death got around, thousands of players gathered at the Cathedral of Light of Stormwind and the Grommash Stronghold of Orgrimmar to commemorate and bid him farewell. That is why Blizzard placed the villain teacher Reckful in the Cathedral of Light and not with the other villain teachers in the old town of Stormwind.
Incidentally, those who approach Reckful will be rewarded with a special dialogue. The NPC says, "I don't train assassin villains." This is an allusion to a statement by Reckful in the Wrath of the Lich King era. Back then, the assassination specialization was considered overpowering, whereupon Reckful explained that he didn't need to play such a specialization to be good. He then reached Arena Rank 1 as a Deception Villain and renounced the ability Mutilate to learn from the rogue trainer.
Fans had increasingly asked Blizzard to memorialize him in Shadowlands after Reckful's death. The fact that Blizzard has fulfilled this wish of the community is very popular. What do you think about that? Write us your opinion in the comments!
