Bob Iger surprisingly steps down as CEO
Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, has surprisingly announced his resignation as CEO. However, it will remain with the company until the end of 2021. A successor has already been found.
Although Bob Iger has been planning to serve as CEO of Disney to lay down, the message came as a surprise. He immediately resigned from his position as managing director.
A new boss at Disney
Iger declares that he will continue to serve as Disney's CEO and that he will work on projects creatively. At least until the end of 2021. Then he wants to resign permanently. Iger explains that two major tasks, the launch of Disney + and the purchase of Fox, have now been completed, so this is a good time to step down.
He is replaced by Bob Chapek, who has worked for Disney for 27 years and was most recently the chairman of Disney's amusement parks. He would like to continue with his work as Bob Iger has exemplified so far. However, he also plans to look around the corner to open up a different perspective on certain things.
Shortly after the announcement of this change, Disney's shares fell 2.5 percent. But Bob Chapek assures investors that they want to follow Bob Iger's course and that many dividends are planned for the coming years.
