There have been rumors in the past that Rockstar Games was actually working on a successor to Bully. However, these reports agree that the project is no longer in development. Now two former Rockstar insiders have commented on the topic and said similar things about Bully 2. The successor is said to have been hired in 2017 – because of other projects at Rockstar Games.
In one Forum Tez2 claims that the makers started preproduction of Grand Theft Auto 6 back in 2015. Two years later, however, work on the project was scaled down a bit to focus on the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Bully 2. In the end, however, Rockstar completely decided against Bully 2 in order to put all available resources into Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 6. A little later reaffirmed Yan2295 the statements of Tez2. Both insiders have repeatedly shared information about Rockstar's plans in the past. However, the claims are not confirmed.
When fans can expect GTA 6 is also still in the stars. Most recently, Bloomberg editor Jason Schreier spoke about the Rockstar Games open world project. Accordingly, the title is probably still in an early stage of development. A release seems to be a few years away. No wonder: In the coming year, Rockstar will initially re-release GTA 5 for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S.
