The sales start of the new RTX 3080 caused an impressive run on various online retailers. At Nvidia, however, bots in particular ensured that the shop only went to its knees shortly after sales began. The RTX 3080 is now only available from a few retailers and Nvidia has contacted our colleagues at PC Games Hardware about the bot glut.

Man, what a rush it was yesterday for the new products from Sony and Nvidia. Whereby it has to be said that thanks to the Communication failure on the part of Sony most of the fans at the Pre-order a PS5 probably ended up empty. Many graphics card enthusiasts also looked into the tube when the starting signal for the sale of the new ones yesterday at 3 p.m. High-end graphics card RTX 3080 fell at Nvidia. Shortly after the start of sales, the capitulated Shop from Nvidia – a wave of order bots flooded the platform and crashed the server. Especially annoying for the fans who had waited expectantly with their fingers on the F5 key. However, you can't beat bots. Nvidia did ours Colleagues from PC Games Hardware reported and commented on the process.

“This morning we saw unprecedented demand for the Geforce RTX 3080 from global retailers, including the Nvidia online store. At 6:00 AM Pacific Time (3:00 PM CEST), we tried to go live with the Nvidia store Store flooded with traffic, ran into a bug, we fixed the issues and sales began to normalize.

To stop bots and scalpers in the Nvidia store, we're doing everything humanly possible, including manually reviewing orders, to get those cards into the hands of legitimate customers. Over 50 major retailers around the world had inventory at 6 a.m. Pacific time. Our Nvidia team and partners are sending more RTX 3080 cards to retailers every day.

We apologize to our customers for the experience. "

Nvidia also stated that it will do everything possible to manually check sales and exclude them in the event of a bot purchase. They are currently trying to deliver more cards to retailers and hope that this will quickly become apparent in the dealers' stocks. An original way of dealing with bot annoyance is shown by a fan with a script that throws a spanner in the works of brazen Ebay resellers who add up to 1,000 euros to the normal retail price.

Indeed: legendary.

If you came away empty-handed yesterday, you can still get the new GeForce RTX 3080 from these retailers:
