Buy Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti: Founders Edition already sold out – current games

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti – sales start

Today at 3 p.m. the official sales start of the new one Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, whose performance is roughly equivalent to an RTX 2080 Super. The Founders Edition was announced in advance for just under 400 euros – this would be a very good price, as even the slower RTX 2070 Super always cost more than 450 euros. The gap to the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, which is currently at least 390 euros, is around 30 percent. Our author tried to get a copy of the new graphics card on the official Nvidia website as well as from Caseking. For this purpose, of course, he had both websites open before 3 p.m. at Caseking the Nvidia graphics card division, Nvidia the website with purchase options for Nvidia graphics cards – he describes his experience in the first person.

3060 Ti frustration: three times in the shopping cart, never got it.

Caseking started a few seconds after 3 p.m. – but there were only custom models of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti from around 530 euros, which was too much for me. However, there were a whopping 21 models to choose from. A few minutes later, many of the copies were already out of print. In the meantime, at 3:45 p.m., there is only one Gigabyte Aorus RTX 3060 Ti for 605 euros. Apparently, however, a number of players still see a purchase price of 530 euros and more as acceptable.

But what about the Founders Edition of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti? On the official Nvidia website, the "Buy now" button on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti only appeared after 3:10 p.m. When I first saw it and clicked on it with a little palpitation, I was forwarded directly to Notebooksbilliger, who serve as the exclusive distributor for the Founders Edition. Lo and behold: it was still available from stock! So off to the shopping cart and checkout. But then: an error message from the website stating something went wrong. Back to the start page, but what do I see there: The shopping cart was empty. Dan quickly to the product website: sold out – I experienced all of this in just a minute.

But there was a glimmer of hope: Notebook cheaper also has some custom models of the new graphics card in its range, one (from Zotac) for only 20 euros more than the Founders Edition, i.e. for 419 euros. I successfully put the deliverable card into the shopping cart, went to checkout, chose Amazon Pay as the payment method so I didn't have to register as a new customer, and entered the payment details there – everything went smoothly. Then clicked on the button for final ordering. What was then to be seen was unfortunately confusing: A page appeared with the information "The shopping cart is empty" – was the purchase successful, and therefore the shopping cart is (of course) empty? Or was this a mistake? Or even a deliberate process because a scalper was presumably recognized and its shopping cart was then deleted? Anyway: I went to the product website again, the card was still available, thank God, I put it back in the shopping cart – if I had ordered twice, I would simply cancel one copy. But then the website came back with the error message that something had gone wrong. I went back to the product website again – now the graphics card was sold out …

Since I have not yet received a purchase confirmation from Notebooksbilliger, I have to assume that either an error on the website that was not displayed as such, or an overly well-intentioned anti-scalper measure, the initially successful purchase via Amazon Pay screwed up. In my opinion, this must not happen and it is extremely annoying. In view of the current graphics card market, I will probably postpone an upgrade far back – I was hoping that I would get an RTX 3060 Ti for 400 to 450 euros and sell my RTX 2060 Super for 300 euros, which is currently possible on eBay without any problems is. If I had simply failed because of a problem that was "sold out" or visibly identified as a website error, this would be okay – but had the card successfully in the shopping cart several times and once even completed the last step to buy, only to be empty going out is very frustrating.

What are your experiences?

Even if it was clear that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti would very likely be out of stock quickly and would also be the target of scaplers, not only our author should have experienced a frustrating half an hour today with purchase attempts. Have you tried a purchase today? Or maybe recently buying one of the other AMD and Nvidia new releases? Tell us about your experiences.
