According to the latest quarterly report, publisher Activision was able to increase sales through microtransactions by $ 536 million in just three months with Call of Duty alone. Modern Warfare in particular is said to be responsible for most of this sum. But Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile have also made their contribution.
Activision Blizzard officials have released last quarter's financial results. A look at the figures shows that the publisher can currently generate high sales, especially with Call of Duty. The brand raised a total of $ 536 million in just three months. According to Activision, the microtransactions in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are responsible for the majority. But Call of Duty: Warzone and Mobile have also made their contribution here. There is no exact division between the games.
In general, Activision Blizzard increased microtransaction revenue by $ 596 million compared to the prior year quarter. As mentioned earlier, Activision will own $ 536 million. Blizzard Entertainment is contributing $ 19 million this time, which was primarily earned through World of Warcraft. King brings it to $ 41 million thanks to the Candy Crush franchise.
The increase in sales is of course also due to the brief lockdown phase of the coronavirus pandemic, during which many players worldwide had to spend their time at home. Currently, fans are still waiting patiently for the announcement of the next offshoot of Call of Duty. There was an update for the game's teaser website just this week. According to rumors, this year it will be Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. We will keep you up to date.
