In keeping with The Witcher 3's fifth birthday, there was good news for the developers of CD Projekt: While the company's stock market value in 2019 was $ 6.8 billion, in 2020 it rose to $ 8.13 billion. This makes CD Projekt the most valuable European company in the video game industry, ahead of Ubisoft, which is listed on the stock exchange for 2020 with $ 8.12 billion.
The Polish company behind the Witcher series, the already-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 and the digital PC games platform GOG, has become the most valuable video game company in Europe in recent months thanks to an increase in market value. With a return of 21 percent over the past decade, the company not only has the largest growth of any company in the Stoxx Europe 600 Index, but is now ahead of its French competitor Ubisoft with a market value of $ 8.13 billion. At $ 8.12 billion, the French company was recently the most valuable in the European video game industry.
In international comparison, however, European companies are still behind giants such as Take-Two, EA or Activision Blizzard. However, the business concept behind the American or Japanese companies is significantly more diversified, which makes a direct comparison difficult.
With Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt has the next major title after The Witcher 3, which could significantly increase the value of the company. According to company president Adam Kicinski, work on the postponed action role-playing game is in full swing. A next-gen version is also in the works, but will probably not be available for the release of the new consoles. The next Witcher game is already in the works for the time after Cyberpunk, according to CD Projekt.
For the fifth birthday of The Witcher 3 there was also good news to announce regarding the game itself. The role-playing game has sold over 30 million copies since its release in 2015.
