CD Projekt Red is best known for the games The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. But the digital storefront is also part of the company. However, according to the company’s latest financial report, it is not going too well.

The total income of CD Projekt increased by 38 percent (about 30 million euros) through the sales of The Witcher and Cyberpunk. GOG However, this year posted losses of just under 2 million euros.

GOG should concentrate on the core business again

In a presentation on earnings for the third quarter of 2021, CFO Piotr Nielubowicz stated, that GOG expect some organizational changes:

“GOG’s performance is challenging and we recently took steps to improve its financial performance.”

“First and foremost, we decided that GOG should concentrate more on its core business, that is, to offer a handpicked selection of games with its unique DRM-free philosophy. According to this approach, there will be changes in the team structure.”

By offering DRM-free games, GOG was able to compete with other major players such as Steam and the Epic Games Store. Recently there was actually a little outcry from the GOG community about the Always-Online feature of Hitman 3, which is why the title has been removed from the range for the time being.

In the same financial report, CD Projekt announced a major update for Cyberpunk 2077, which will be released along with the next-gen version of the title in the first quarter of 2022.
