With Command & Conquer Remastered, Electronic Arts is reissuing popular classics. The game collection will be released on June 5 for PC – via Steam and Origin. The developers do not seem to categorically rule out console implementation. Producer Jim Vessella writes on Twitter that they know about the rich history of Command and Conquer on console. For this reason, some of the old console content such as missions and cinematics for the C&C Remastered have been adopted for the Remastered version. Vessella also answers the question of whether the new editions can also be played offline on PC.
The Command and Conquer Remastered will be released on June 5. The developers have so far confirmed a PC version of the new edition – via Steam and Origin. It is not yet known whether the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch consoles will follow at a later date. After all, the developers do not seem to categorically rule out individual console versions of Command and Conquer Remastered. When asked by a fan whether the new editions could also appear on PS4, the producer answers Jim Vessella on Twitter: "The Remastered Collection is currently only planned for PC. But we know about the rich history of Command and Conquer on console."
For this reason, some of the contents of the old console versions have been transferred to the Command and Conquer Remastered for PC, including missions and cinematics. Vessella initially left open whether the new edition will actually be implemented for the console after the PC release on June 5. We will of course keep you up to date in our news area.
By the way, the producer answered further questions from the fans on Twitter. When asked whether Command and Conquer Remastered could be played entirely offline, Vessella said: "Very good question. Both campaign and Skirmish can be played offline (within the 30-day offline rules on Steam and Origin)." The only DRM measure is standard Origin and Steam authentication. Command & Conquer Remastered does not have copy protection mechanisms like Denuvo. Vessella also explained that Steam players do not necessarily have to install the Origin client to play the Remastered. However, a link to an EA account must be set up before starting.
Command & Conquer is in the new edition: The Tiberium conflict, Command & Conquer: Red alert and the three associated extensions The state of emergency, counterattack and retaliation.
