At least when it comes to Game Director Cory Barlog. In a prequel to God of War, he would like to tell how Kratos and his wife Faye got to know each other.
God of War threw the player into a completely new situation in 2018. Kratos has grown old and has a son. The late mother of this child is called Faye and is sparsely equipped with details in the game. There are still no concrete plans for how God of War should continue. However, Game Director Cory Barlog already has an idea of what he wants to tell next. In one Interview with PlayStation Access he already reveals a little about his plans.
God of War: How I Met Your Mother?
Of course, Kratos and his son Atreus will not be sitting by the fire and the old Spartan tells in nine seasons how he has got to know the mother. Nevertheless, getting to know each other could be an important part of the sequel to God of War for Barlog.
The decision not to tell much about Faye was made consciously. The developers didn't want to introduce a character that's already dead when the game started. Barlog said:
“The story of the first meeting of Faye and Kratos is of little importance if you don't know what is going to happen there. Hitting her has to feel like you already know her so the question of who she is gets more weight. ”
Barlog doesn't really know the form in which this story is told. A prequel would certainly be conceivable, but difficult to implement. Kratos and Faye meet at a point in their lives where they both have actually left the fighting behind, which could make the gameplay a bit complicated – a God of War without fighting? Maybe a spin-off would be possible, because the end of God of War at least reveals that something must be very special about Faye.
“They are both warriors who have reached a point in their lives where they no longer want to fight because they have recognized the real reasons for fighting. Meeting at this time and in this moment while both are ready to lay down their arms has fundamentally changed their lives. ”
However, nothing is still in the dry cloth. At Cory Barlog there is definitely the will to tell the story of Kratos and Faye:
"I don't know how we're going to do it or when we're going to do it, but I really want to tell the story of Faye and Kratos."
So it remains to be seen what will happen to God of War.
