Cyberpunk 2077 looks the best at the competition for now

Although AMD's new graphics cards offer quite a bit of performance, Cyberpunk 2077 gamers will have to forego the best graphics settings – these are reserved for Nvidia cards. AMD fans don't have to despair because there is a ray of hope.

No ray tracing with Cyberpunk 2077: AMD graphics cards have to do without graphics features

For over 7 years, the fans of Cyberpunk 2077 have been waiting for CD Projekt Red to finally bring the new role-playing game onto the market. On December 10th, the time will finally come – The first pictures already show that the PS4 versions are already on the way to retail.

Although the PS5 and Xbox Series X offer massive amounts of power, As always, the best graphics are on the PC. But not all players will be able to make use of it, as we have now learned thanks to a tweet. Because even owners of a brand new AMD graphics card will initially have to do without a special graphics feature: ray tracing. The technology enables the particularly realistic representation of shadows, lighting and reflections and will also be used in Cyberpunk 2077 – then only for owners of an RTX graphics card from Nvidia.

Ray tracing in Cyberpunk 2077: AMD graphics cards get the feature later

But AMD users do not have to do without the function forever. The tweet by the CD Projekt Red community manager shows that the team is already working with AMD in order to later get ray tracing to work on Team Red's new graphics cards.

In the video we explain why ray tracing is such a game changer:

As an AMD user, however, you will have to do without it right from the start. The community manager does not give a specific date for a corresponding update – This year, however, you shouldn't expect it any more. In addition, it remains to be seen how much ray tracing nibbles on performance.

Even with Nvidia cards, a drop in performance has always been recognizable so far, and this should also be the case with AMD. It also remains to be seen whether some graphics effects will ultimately remain reserved for Nvidia users. We won't know until the game is out and the updates are online.
