Hard times for RPG fans: Cyberpunk 2077 has fallen short of expectations for many and now there is the next bad news. An RPG hope that should appear very soon is currently grappling with huge problems.
Vampires: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 – RPG Hope will no longer appear in 2021
After the mixed start of Cyberpunk 2077, many RPG fans had their hopes for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2. The predecessor is still an absolute RPG insider tip for many players. The first scenes from the sequel indicated great potential.
Actually, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 should be the official sequel this year – but nothing will come of it, as publisher Paradox Interactive recently rolled into one official annual report announced:
“It is important for us that our games are well received by the players. Therefore, whenever possible, we always decide to give our development studios the necessary time to achieve the quality goals.
This also applies to the development of Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, the delay of which we communicated in the third quarter of 2020. We have now decided to postpone the release of the game, and won't launch the game in 2021."
In summer 2020, the developers proudly presented a new trailer – now the release of Vampire Bloodlines 2 is uncertain:
Vampire Bloodlines 2 developer change – Paradox pulls the rip cord
Paradox Interactive also gives a good reason for the shift. So it was decided to withdraw the developer Hardsuit Labs from the project and instead let another studio take the lead:
"We have also decided that Hardsuit Labs will no longer lead the development of Bloodlines 2, and we've started working with a new studio partner to finish work on the game. It was a difficult decision, but we are convinced that it is the right way to do justice to the game. "
Why the decision was made to end the collaboration with Hardsuit Labs, Paradox does not go into detail in the statement. However, it can be assumed that the development progress has lagged behind the publisher's expectations. In one blog entry thanks to the studio for that "Basic building block" of the game.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that Vampire Bloodlines 2 does not expect a similar fate:
For RPG fans, this news is likely to be a heavy blow. Replacing an entire development studio is never a good omen – Duke Nukem Forever players can tell you a thing or two about it.
Paradox has not yet communicated a new release date for Vampires: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 at the current time – the publisher has decided not to accept any further pre-orders until further notice. Whether the sequel to the acclaimed RPG hit will ever see the light of day remains to be seen.
