If you wanted to pre-order an Xbox Series X, you had to be quick: previous contingents of individual dealers were sold out within a very short time. After all: German prospects can buy a limited edition papercraft kit in selected Media Markt and Saturn branches. With the pre-order, buyers receive a boxed Xbox Series X model that can be assembled and taken home. On presentation of the receipt, the new console can then be picked up from the store on the release day (November 10th).
The current situation is different for online shops: online pre-orders for the Xbox Series X are currently not possible, and the S model is also out of stock in many places. Although some retailers receive additional quotas every now and then, the available consoles are sold out again after only a short time. An improvement is apparently not in sight, as Xbox boss Phil Spencer in Podcast Dropped Frames lets through. "Essentially, we know what our stocks will look like for the rest of the year. Demand will outweigh supply," says the Microsoft manager. Accordingly, delivery bottlenecks for the Xbox Series X are to be expected for the rest of the year.
Spencer wanted to apologize in advance for this. "We saw how much energy there was with the pre-orders: the stocks were basically out of stock in a few hours, which is unfortunate. I think we will have to live with this situation for a few more months. We will be more demand than supply Record, "says Spencer on the podcast. At what point in time replenishments can be expected and the Xbox Series X can be pre-ordered again is not known. It's best to keep an eye on our regularly updated bargain guide.
A similar situation can be observed at Sony: The PS5 is currently also out of stock. Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO recently said that not everyone who wants to buy a PlayStation 5 on launch day will find one. (buy now )
The Xbox Series X costs 499 euros, the S model comes on the market for 299 euros. Sony offers the PS5 in two models: The version with Blu-ray drive costs 499 euros. The digital edition, designed purely for digital gaming, starts for 399 euros.
