Details of Quentin Tarantino's movie emerged

from Andreas Bertits
The situation around the Star Trek movies is very complicated right now. It is not clear which projects will be implemented. However, details about the film have now emerged, the idea of which comes from Quentin Tarantino.

Paramount increased the film project Star Trek by Fargo author Noah Hawley on hold. It was considered the most promising idea and would almost have been implemented – had it not been for the corona pandemic. A film idea from Quentin Tarantino is still in the running. And now story details have surfaced.

Return to the 1930s

Allegedly, the story takes place in the 1930s and is supposed to be based on a gangster scenario. It is still unclear here whether it is a time travel story, since the earth is being used as the setting, or whether the story is based on the Star Trek episode "Epigonen". In this episode, the crew of the USS Enterprise reaches the planet Sigma Iota II. There, the USS Horizon made the first contact about 100 years ago.

But the Enterprise encounters a civilization that has turned into a grotesque image of the earth in the twenties / thirties. The reason is a gangster novel that the crew of the USS Horizon had forgotten and which the population used as a model for the restructuring of their society. Gangster bosses now rule and Captain Kirk must find a way to unite the warring gangs to lead the planet into a better future.

Allegedly, the film Quentin Tarantino was planning is supposed to explore the Federation's Supreme Directive and a gangster scenario in the 1930s would have kept the budget of the film low. It would have been a typical Tarantino film with violence and humor – a kind of "pulp fiction in space". Even if Tarantino himself has since left the project, Paramount is apparently interested in the script by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) as a kind of spin-off to Star Trek (buy now) to implement. But it is not yet clear whether this will actually happen.
