The open beta for Diablo 2 Resurrected is about to start: it will be activated on August 20th. A time is also already available: the servers go online at 7 p.m. So from tomorrow, Friday, you have the opportunity to put the first two acts of the newly published Hack and Slay through their paces. The open beta runs until August 23, also at 7 p.m. Unlike the early access weekend last week, this time all players who own one of the supported platforms are allowed to participate: The beta runs on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5. The test phase does not take place on Nintendo Switch.

As a pre-order bonus, players on Nintendo Switch will receive the Legacy of Arreat transmogrification set for Diablo 3 when Diablo 2: Resurrected is released on September 23rd. If you take part in the beta on a PlayStation console, you need an active PS Plus membership (around 60 euros per year). Xbox Live does not require an Xbox Live subscription to participate in the Open Beta. In order to be able to start in time for activation, it is advisable to download the data necessary for playing: The preloads are available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. As soon as the Diablo 2 Resurrected Beta starts on Friday, you can join the game directly.

We were already on the early access weekend in Diablo 2 Resurrected and show in our technology check how the action RPG fares on PlayStation 4, PS4 Pro and PS5. On the standard PS4, the hell ride runs in 30 fps mode. However, the game on the old Sony console struggles to keep this value constant. Especially when we are surrounded by several opponents at the same time: As soon as the screen gets down to business, stuttering disturbs the game. On PS4 Pro, Diablo 2 runs smoother, on PS5 without any problems. Tests will have to show how the action RPG fares on the Xbox consoles. Blizzard still has until September 23rd to correct major technical defects. Then Diablo 2 Resurrected will appear for PC and consoles. By the way: Progress made in the beta cannot be transferred to the full version.
