Later this year, the long-awaited by many fans DIablo 2: Resurrected will be released. So far there is no specific release date, but at least a first test phase will start in the near future. But at the moment, an important question is somewhat dampening the great anticipation. A question to which there was actually already a clear answer, but which has recently caused some confusion. Can you use old savegames from the original Diablo 2 in the remaster version or not?

At the official announcement of Diablo 2: Resurrected at BlizzCon 2021, the developers had actually made a clear statement on this topic. You will not be able to use old saved games. For this reason, Diablo 2 and Diablo 2: Resurrected should exist and be playable separately from each other. In this way you don't have to knock your old savegames completely in the bin, but can at least use them with the original. But recently producer Matthew Cederquist spoke up in an interview with IGN Middle East magazine and caused confusion with a statement to the contrary.

"Keep your old saves. While we were working on the remaster, we wondered if the old saves would work. So we tried it and it worked! So yes, you can take over your local single-player saves."

Accordingly, there are now two different statements on the same topic in the room. The import option may only apply to the offline characters from Diablo 2. A clarifying statement from Blizzard Entertainment is pending. We will keep you up to date.
