An alpha is not yet the finished game. It is an early version that does not yet contain all the features and functions, but has a lot of bugs. But when an Alpha is doing as well as Diablo 2 Resurrected, any problem can ruin the fun for players. This is what happened in Blizzard’s Hack ‘n Slay.
An old bug returns
In the alpha it was possible to duplicate items, which of course ruined the entire balancing in Diablo 2 Resurrected. Namely, players could put an item in the storage, save the game and exit. Then they took the item out of the warehouse, pressed Alt and F4 to leave the game without saving and with the next start the item was back in the warehouse, which means that the players now had it twice in possession. The bug has since been reported to Blizzard.
Curiously, this is a bug that even existed in the original Diablo 2 and it is quite interesting that it now appears in the remaster as well. The glitch only works in offline single player mode. However, it is not even possible to test the multiplayer yet.
As bad as the bug is, it was discovered in the Alpha. Because that’s exactly what the test phase was for. Blizzard wanted feedback from players and be informed about bugs. It can therefore be assumed that this item dupe glitch will no longer appear in the release version of Diablo 2 Resurrected. But it is conceivable that there are other bugs from the original in the game. But there should be at least one more alpha phase, which is intended more as a stress test for the servers. Nevertheless, bugs can then also be reported. It is not yet known when Diablo 2 Resurrected will be released.
