In an interview, Diablo's lead producer Chris Lena spoke about the technical alpha of Diablo 2: Resurrected and possible balance updates. Balance updates for classes and / or items would, if at all, only be carried out after consultation with the community.
According to Blizzard, fans of Diablo 2 can look forward to the new version of Diablo 2 with graphics updates this year. A lot has to be tested before the release. Since the end of February you can register for the Alpha of Diablo 2 Resurrected. In one Interview with pcgamesn Diablo's lead producer Chris Lena revealed that they start with a technical alpha in single player mode. Then the second technical alpha begins with multiplayer mode, which is to serve as a stress test for the servers.
According to the lead producer, the Alpha of Diablo 2 Resurrected is not only intended for stress tests.
"These alphas will, of course, start to shape the future of Resurrected (…) the door is open for things like balance changes to help keep the game vibrant for a modern community – if, indeed, players indicate that they actually want that to happen. Either way, that process starts with the alphas. "
In order to make the game more interesting, in addition to graphical and QOL updates, balance updates could also be made, if this is desired by the community. Whether and how these changes could look like will only be shown by the test phases, which will apparently take place sometime towards the end of this year.
If you have registered for the Alpha, keep in mind that e-mails are now rarely sent inviting you to test Blizzard games. As a rule, you will receive a confirmation that you have received a place for the test. There are no codes or the like, your account is simply activated.
