Diablo 2: Stay Awhile and Listen Book II

from Norbert Rätz
Orcs and humans. Angel and devil. North and south. Harmony and discord. "Stay Awhile and Listen: Book II – Heaven, Hell, and Secret Cow Levels" continues the story of the two Blizzards. Below are some excerpts from the book, which will be released on Tuesday of this week.

Blizzard Entertainment is under threat from the competition in the genre they have made popular, and looks to the stars to build a new franchise and become a well-oiled machine. Blizzard North is no longer the outsider, but gets Diablo out of his bleak dungeons into deserts, jungles, and snow capped mountain peaks. But success has its price. Corporate greed threatens to overshadow artistic breakthroughs, new talent spurs corporate culture, and the passion to deliver the best results results in brutal working hours, broken relationships, and creative burnout that make visionaries incapacitated and their teams aimless. Stay Awhile and Lists: Book II, which will be available on December 10, first as a digital Kindle version (and paperback in 2020), tells the story of two teams that formed an unstoppable conglomerate, though in the end they proved to be too explosive a mix to coexist.

The website Icy Veins has an extensive excerpt from the book, which focuses on the production of Diablo 2 (buy now for 9,99 €) concentrated. This is the author David L. Craddock talking to the creators of the game about why Diablo 2 still has such great appeal today, 20 years after its first release. Many believe it still represents the gold standard of action role-playing games to this day.
