Director and author comment on the status of the film

Shazam 2 should actually start shooting later this year. Director and author David F. Sandberg has now commented on whether this can happen at all.

Shazam is one of the DC comic book films that were very well received by the fans. Therefore, a sequel is in the works. The filming should begin this year. But whether this can happen is still completely unclear.

What about Shazam 2?

"Well, we'll see how long the corona crisis lasts because we wanted to start filming this year," said director and writer David F. Sandber. "But I mean, who knows how long it will take? It feels like every film is delayed now, so we'll see what happens to Shazam! But I've worked on the script so far. We can still doing it, so everything will be done for it and then we'll see how it goes in a few months. "

So it could be that Shazam 2 will be shot later this year. However, this depends on the further development of the corona crisis. The film Black Adam, in which Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will play a later opponent of Shazam, currently has the same problem. The strip should also go into production this year.
