Fans of the Star Trek series can breathe a sigh of relief: Paramount announced that Noah Hawley will be the director of Star Trek 4. The biggest surprise, however, is the announced cast of the lead actor: Chris Pine will be on board as Captain Kirk in the new sequel.

The future of "Star Trek 4" did not look very bright for a long time. In the middle of last year, lead actors Chris Pine (James T. Kirk) and Chris Hemsworth (George Kirk) got out and in early January, director S. J. Clarkson said goodbye – whether production could continue at all was on the cutting edge. Finally a ray of hope: Paramount expressed the wish that Noah Hawley, Showrunner of the series "Fargo", director and screenwriter of the franchise sequel should take over. Now this information has been officially confirmed along with the film's cast, and surprisingly, and fortunately, Chris Pine is even expected to return as Captain of the Enterprise.

Again part of the crew are:

  • Chris Pine (Captain Kirk)
  • Zachary Quinto (Spock)
  • Zoe Saldana (Lieutenant Uhura)
  • Simon Pegg (Scotty)
  • Karl Urban (Doctor "Bones" McCoy)

One can therefore assume that the financial disagreements between Paramount and Chris Pine, which should have been the reason for his first cancellation, have been shelved. However, Chris Hemsworth may not change his mind and play Captain Kirk's father again. His exit he finally justified by the fact that the script did not meet his expectations and he saw no incentive to play the character again in a "Star Trek" Seoul. The script had to be reworked with the removal of George Kirk.

But if everything goes well, the fans of "Star Trek" can look forward to 2021, because there is the fourth part to come to the cinemas.
