Dirt 5 fans will have to wait a little longer for Dirt 5 to be released. Codemasters postponed the date by a week. The racing game will not be released until October 16, 2020. The next-gen version for PS5 and Xbox Series X is still planned for the end of 2020. The makers have not revealed a reason for the postponement.
The Codemasters team announced today that the Dirt 5 release had to be postponed. Fans of the series don't have to worry too much – the new date is just a week later. Dirt 5 will no longer appear in stores on October 9, but on October 16, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Amplified Edition buyers get access three days early.
Codemasters has not revealed why the racing game has been postponed. Incidentally, there were no changes to the next-gen version of Dirt 5. As before, the title will be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X towards the end of the year. If you have already bought the version for PS4 or Xbox One, you can look forward to a free upgrade later. Implementation for Google Stadia will not start until 2021. In June we took a detailed look at the racing game in our preview. You can find a video below.
Among other things, Dirt 5 will offer an extensive career mode. For this purpose, the makers even brought famous voice actors such as Nolan North (Nathan Drake) or Troy Baker (Joel in The Last of Us) on board. A total of over 130 events in nine different race types will be available in the game. A split-screen mode is also part of Dirt 5, with which you can even play your career together. You can find more details about the campaign in our previous article.
