Dune: First Look – This is what the new sandworms look like
Even before the trailer for Dune is released, there is another foretaste of the star-studded sci-fi film adaptation: This time Empire provides a first glimpse of the gigantic sandworms that live in the deserts of Arrakis. And there is more to see – all information in the message!
After a long silence, Warner Bros. has finally released new images from Dune: The editorial staff of Empire did for its exclusive cover story created three different magazine covers, which are decorated with new motifs from the elaborate sci-fi film adaptation. The first cover focuses on some of the most important characters from House Atreides. In addition to Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin) and Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac), Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) can also be seen in a fighting pose and a detailed still suit. On the right in the picture: Lady Jessica, Paul's mother and astute Bene Gesserit, who is played by Rebecca Ferguson in the film.
The second cover focuses on the Fremen and shows Chani (Zendaya) on the left, who will play a central role in Paul's story. In the foreground we see Stilgar, a seasoned Fremen leader who becomes an important ally of Paul and his mother. To the right: Liet Kynes, Imperial ecologist and Chani's mother. In Frank Herbert's famous book, Liet was originally a man, while in Denis Villeneuve's remake, Sharon Duncan-Brewster will take over the role. Also shown on the cover: Fighting expert Duncan Idaho (Jason Momoa), who is sent to the Fremen as a mediator for Leto Atreides.
On the third cover (scroll down in the Twitter integration) they can be seen for the first time: The gigantic sandworms that live in the deep deserts of Arrakis and pose a constant threat to spice production there.
