Dune (2020) is based on the legendary book by Frank Herbert, which since her First published in 1965 is considered a milestone in the sci-fi genre. However, director Denis Villeneuve will only cover half of the first book in the film, as in his opinion the material is too complex to be squeezed into a single film. For this reason, Villeneuve designed the project for two films from the start. Although the next dune strip has not yet been officially confirmed, the announcement is only a matter of form.
Dune is set in a distant future and focuses on the desert planet Arrakis, where the precious drug melange is mined. In the dispute over mining rights, a bloody conflict breaks out between the great houses of Atreides and Harkonnen. On Arrakis, Paul, the gifted son of Duke Leto Atreides, finally found his calling with the desert people of the Fremen, for whom he developed into a spiritual leader. Blessed with superhuman powers and a powerful army under his command, Paul leads a momentous campaign of revenge against the house of Harkonnen, which will change not only the future of Arrakis, but the order of the entire universe forever.

But professionals are also at work behind the scenes. The camera was taken over by Greig Fraser (Star Wars: Rogue One, Zero Dark Thirty), the soundtrack was created by Hans Zimmer, who even skipped Christopher Nolan's tenet for this film.
