Two weeks after the exclusive deal between 2K Games and Tiger Woods, those responsible at Electronic Arts have now also announced their return to golf simulation. EA Sports PGA Tour is the name of the publisher’s new project. Just last year, 2K released a golf game called PGA Tour 2K21. The team from HB Studios, who previously made themselves known through The Golf Club, was responsible for the development.
Publisher 2K has not only committed Tiger Woods for many years, HB Studios will also continue to develop the games in the future. And now EA would like to get involved again in the field of golf simulations. The makers have not yet announced too many details. Thanks to the PGA license, EA’s offshoot will also offer numerous well-known courses from around the world. In addition, players can compete against or with the most famous golfers from professional sports. It is not yet clear whether Tiger Woods is also part of the selection. EA Sports PGA Tour is referred to as a next-gen project that uses the Frostbite engine. A release for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S is therefore already certain.
EA has also worked with the PGA Tour for many years in the past. Between 1998 and 2013, 16 games were released, all of which had Tiger Woods on the cover. Because of the exclusive deal between 2K and the golf icon, this will no longer be the case in the future. There is currently no release for EA Sports PGA Tour.
