The Release date of Elden Ring One thing is certain: The new work by the Dark Souls makers from From Software will be released on January 21, 2022, as publisher Bandai Namco announced during the Summer Game Festival 2021. The action role-playing game appears for PC and consoles. As the publisher confirms, buyers of the PS4 or Xbox One version get an upgrade to the next-gen version for free. So if you start the adventure on PS4 or Xbox One and only buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X / S later, you can upgrade to the technically better version free of charge.

At the Summer Game Fest, viewers finally got to see the first gameplay trailer that gave them a glimpse of the game world. A world full of intrigue and dark forces awaits you. You face tough opponents with the typical melee system from From Software and work on strategies to finally get them off the screen. “During their journey, players gradually decipher the secrets and myths of this world and ultimately decide the fate of the entire country haunted by the curse,” wrote the publisher in response to the announcement.

Elden Ring promises a huge and seamless landscape with a natural weather and day-night cycle. As known from the From Software games, it is up to you which path you take – and how you explore the world. “Whether on foot or on horseback, alone or online with friends – vast plains, oppressive swamps and lush forests await new heroes,” continues Bandai Namco.

Hidetaka Miyazaki, Director at FromSoftware, says: “At Elden Ring, we brought all of our dark fantasy and action RPG knowledge and experience that we could collect with the Dark Souls series to express the genre in a bold and classic way to develop further. ” As a player, you can experiment with weapons, magical abilities and skills that can be found all over the world and “use previously unimagined opportunities for your progress”. You can get a foretaste of the new adventure below.
