Those in charge of the Embracer Group are currently preparing for further takeovers. The parent company of THQ Nordic and Koch Media has raised over 893 million US dollars in a financing round from investors. A statement said the company is already reviewing several potential acquisitions that could be carried out shortly. This includes publishers, developer studios and also IPs.

The Embracer Group has not yet revealed any further details. Recent acquisitions included publisher Easybrain, developer Aspyr Media, and Gearbox Entertainment's Borderlands studio. The deals are valued at more than $ 2 billion. For the acquisition of Gearbox alone, the group will pay up to 1.3 billion US dollars if certain goals are achieved in the next few years. For Borderlands, however, 2K will remain Gearbox's partner for the time being.

The group has been in a takeover frenzy since 2018. In November last year, for example, 13 studios were acquired in one fell swoop. There are now 58 development teams in the Embracer Group's portfolio. The company is responsible for around 5,700 employees in 45 different countries. These include Tarsier Studios (Little Nightmares), Coffee Stain Studios (Valheim), 4A Games (Metro Exodus), Bugbear Entertainment (Wreckfest) and Piranha Bytes (Gothic) from Germany.
