Those in charge of the Embracer Group have presented four further acquisitions that were carried out through the subsidiaries THQ Nordic and Amplifier Game Invest. The group paid a total of seven million euros for the acquisitions.
The THQ Nordic development studios will now include, for example, Appeal Studios. The Belgian team currently employs 55 people, including the creators of Outcast from 1999. The makers are currently working on an action adventure that is set in a sci-fi open world. Another takeover is KAIKO GmbH from Frankfurt, which has taken care of ports from Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered, Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning and Darksiders: Warmastered in recent years.
The third acquisition by THQ Nordic is Massive Miniteam GmbH from Pulheim near Cologne. The employees will be integrated into the organization of HandyGames, which was taken over in 2018. The studios are working together on several games. In addition to THQ Nordic, Amplifier Game Invest is also pleased to have a new development studio with Frame Break. The team from Sweden is currently developing a project based on its own IP and located in the co-op area for PC and console. As recently as March, the Embracer Group received around 890 million euros from investors, which will be used, among other things, for further takeovers. This should now also include the four newcomers.
