Fans have long suspected a direct connection between Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher that goes beyond normal Easter Eggs. The reason for this is a conversation between Geralt and Ciri in The Witcher 3.
Cyberpunk 2077 is packed with Easter Eggs and pop-cultural references and of course the games from CD Projekt Red can also be found in Night City. There is a very obvious Easter Egg in the Corpo life path, but fans now found a rather hidden indication that Ciri could actually have visited Night City.
A clear Easter Egg with reference to The Witcher 3 and Ciri can be found in the first minutes of the Corpo life path. As an Arasaka employee, of course, you have an office and one of a drawer of your desk can be found among other things Retro gaming magazine, the cover of which features a picture of Ciri and The Witcher 3 lettering.
Fans expect or hope for another reference to The Witcher 3. This expectation is met Conversation between Geralt and Ciri back towards the end of the main game. Ciri tells Geralt about her escape from the wild hunt and used portals to get to other worlds. The description of one of these worlds sounds very much like the world of cyberpunk.
Through this dialogue, players are now looking for Ciri in Cyberpunk 2077 or at least for clues to her. Towards the end of the game, a clue now appears to have been found. To avoid spoilers, there is no precise description of the circumstances how this notice can be found. V is in Badlands and sees something in the window of a car. It is a bird, more precisely a swallow.
The swallow is used in The Witcher as a Symbol for Ciri, her name also comes from the elven word for swallow "Zireael". Cyberpunk even explains that it is very unlikely to be a coincidence in Night City there are no wild animals. This emerges from an information splinter about the city, which explains that all animals within a radius of 30 kilometers around the city have been exterminated so that they do not drag diseases into the overcrowded metropolis.
Whether or not Ciri is roaming through Night City is not clear. Game Director Adam Badowski told in June 2018 Polygon however, "We are not Kingdom Hearts" and seemed to be against some kind of cameo from Ciri. Since then, a lot has happened at Cyberpunk 2077 and CD Projekt Red and you don't have to weigh every word of the studio on the gold scales.
