Ruby Weapon was one of the toughest opponents you could face in Final Fantasy 7 and has been with Patch 5.2 "Echoes of a Fallen Star" finally his way into the world of Final Fantasy 14 (buy now for € 7.90) found. While this fight is relatively easy on the normal level of difficulty, in extreme mode (Ruby Fire – Trauma) a good understanding of all skills ahead and will also require some practice. In this guide, we want to go into detail about all the skills and key points of this challenge and thus help you with your first steps.
Around Ruby Weapon to unlock on Extreme Mode, you must first have defeated him on normal difficulty. Then talk to the Garlond modeler in Fen (X11.5 Y6.7) Ruby Fire – Trauma to be allowed to enter. In general, your item level should be at least 470. This is necessary in order to be able to enter the fight via the raid search and is also usually required in the group search. As with the normal level of difficulty, you have to fight against the Ruby Weapon fight yourself. Since many of the attacks kill you immediately if you make a mistake, this phase requires a lot of practice. Before the fight begins eight markers distributed on the edge of the field and assigned to the individual players. These are only urgently needed in the second phase, but also help to distribute them evenly if necessary. Below we will look at the different skills in the order that you will encounter in this fight.
At the beginning of the fight, the group should be close behind Ruby Weapon collect. The fight starts with Ultima system, a raid-wide area attack that you can't do anything against. Here the healers must be ready and react to them in good time. As long as nobody has a debuff, this shouldn't be a problem.
Magitek bit & spiral claws
Will fight several times Ruby Weapon Flex claws deploy. He stabs his claws in the ground, which has a different effect each time, to which you have to react differently. Fortunately, however, he (almost always) follows a fixed order.
Before the first Flex claws you get it with Magitek bit to do. He places eight drones on the edge of the field that you cannot attack. Each player is then targeted a total of four times by a laser attack that causes damage across the entire field. This can be easily avoided, but it overlaps twice with the first Flex claws.
Once the boss Flex claws acts, arise by means of spiral claws three damage areas in the middle of the battlefield and three spiral lines towards the edge of the field. Shortly thereafter, extensive damage is also caused along these lines. There is a safe place here near the inner damage areas. However, since the laser attacks deal with the explosions of the Flex claws overlap, you always have to wait until the laser lines are visible and only then run to the safe zones.
There are two options here: The raid can be distributed over a large area, with each player being on his own. However, it can easily happen that the safe position is blocked by another player's laser attack. The more elegant option is to mark a player and then run as a closed group, which directs all lasers to a single point.
at mash is a tank killer who does a lot of damage and debuffs him. The second tank should be ready to take over the boss in time. Fortunately, this phase does not last very long.
Flex Claws 2: Undermine or liquefy
Spread out for the following Flex claws generous in the room. You can use the set markers for this. From Ruby's claws, eight tendrils will dig through the ground towards the edge of the field. Stay away from the peaks as they explode shortly afterwards. The four long tendrils in particular can be dangerous here and force players to leave their position for a short time.

It is difficult to put the Ruby sphere by Undermine and Liquefyto which you have to react differently. At this point it is a coincidence which of the two effects is triggered by the boss. So prepare yourself for both options.
- Undermine: The tendrils become damage zones. Place the ruby sphere on the free spaces between the tendrils.
- Liquefy: The free areas outside the tendrils become quicksand and thus fatal. Here you have to place the ruby spheres on the tendrils. Since there is little space here, all players have to start at the top and place the areas very close to each other.
This is a simple laser attack that works in a certain direction. Just stay away from the front. Then the boss is again Ultima system work before the next Flex-mouth expect.
Flex Claw 3: Flight of the Raven
Turn the playing field into quicksand. The boss will now Flight of the raven deploy, quickly hitting the field several times. The trajectory is determined by the direction markers. The damage zone is quite large here, so stay far to the edge of the platform and not in its trajectory.
There are two special markings within the specified path. The boss achieves that Claws Icon, one of his hands will turn into a claw and the corresponding side will be fatal. Stay here in the middle of the platform and quickly dodge to the safe side. The Circle Symbol finally transforms the center of the arena into quicksand, but the outer area becomes a safe zone. Run outside here in time. Avoid the side on which the claw is located. Here you have very little time to react and you have to think about which side to avoid. Due to the constant change of position of the boss, this can be quite tricky and requires some practice.
Ruby dynamo and claw storm
After another Ultima system and mash the last new ability follows the first phase. at Rubin-Dynamo becomes Ruby Weapon carry out an area attack with two claws over the entire battlefield. There is a safe place directly below him. Meanwhile, the two healers are given yellow markers, on which the raid must be divided into two even groups. Immediately afterwards, all players are marked with a damage area and Ruby Weapon becomes claws storm deploy, attacking once in the middle of the battlefield. Gather here with four players on each side and make sure that the damage areas do not overlap. There should be a healer on each side to keep the group alive. After the claws storm is over, you have two meteor attacks and one more Rubin beam dodge. At the latest at the next one Ultima system should all players be completely healed again.
Phase 1: The further course
Ruby Weapon will once again be the second variant of the Flex-mouth use, where the tendrils grow to the edge of the field. Then the rest follows Undermine or Liquefy – depending on which of the abilities the boss used previously.
Until the Enrage you finally get it again Flight of the raven to do, this time first turning the middle of the battlefield into quicksand. So stay on the outside and then run in the middle, whereby you must already pay attention to which side the claw is created. This version of Flight of the raven is however much easier than the first.
Depending on how long you need for the fight, you will be the one again Rubin-Dynamo have to survive before the enrage takes place.
Ruby Weapon Trauma: Phase 2

Add phase: Nael's illusion
At the beginning of the second phase, the boss will summon two add-ons "Nael's Mirage", which have to be filled up a bit apart. All players are given a red or blue debuff. Attacks the add of the opposite color. Healers should also be with their respective group. Now several things will happen at the same time: The four damage experts will join Meteor flight marked, a blue AOE that should not overlap. Run to the edge of the field and spread out there. After these attacks, two additional enemies will appear, chasing two randomly selected damage experts along a line. Draw these by adding the other color so that they are destroyed, taking care not to hit other players. In the meantime, the boss will change the color of your debuff, which will require you to switch to the other side.
As soon as the add-ons are destroyed, you can start Ruby Weapon fight yourself. This now sets Project meteor one that delays the a little bit Dalamuds triggers and causes raid-wide area damage. The boss will soon be added Aura Negetiva Act. Turn your pawn away so as not to die.
Then you will with it Meteor blast get busy. To do this, spread out on the markers that were assigned to you at the beginning. The markings above the individual players indicate the order in which the small meteors land. Place them as close as possible to the edge of the field and then run to the center. The only exception here is the player who is marked with the 8th meteor. This must be put down about half way to the center so that there is still space behind.
Once the little meteors have landed, they will explode one by one. At the same time, a large meteor will strike in the middle, which is certainly deadly. Gather behind the 8th meteor to avoid this damage. Since this then explodes, you must run back to the center immediately. At the same time, the boss screech use what throws you into the death zone on the edge of the field. You can help me with the command "Steadfastness" missed.
Magitek Comet Tier II
The Magitek Comet Tier II is the last challenge in this fight. Two meteors land at the marked locations, which are intercepted by the tanks and then by the damage experts must be destroyed. Since the damage to the tanks is enormous here, you should use all remaining cooldowns here. Commands such as Holy ground prove to be particularly useful.
In addition to the damage to the tanks, players are also regular Bradamante marked, which results in a linear attack. Avoid hitting other players with it at all costs. This phase is particularly challenging for the healer, which is why they should save as many emergency skills as possible.
If this phase is over, the second one Dalamud consequences.
