According to current information, Microsoft has started internal tests of the browser version of xCloud. Accordingly, employees of the company are currently scrutinizing the streaming platform for games. If the test is successful, a public beta should be launched soon. With the browser version of xCloud, subscribers of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can also access the xCloud library via iOS.

So far, only owners of tablets or smartphones with Android system software have been able to use the service. The background to this is Apple's strict guidelines in the App Store, which make it difficult to publish xCloud. With the offer via the browser, Microsoft is now circumventing the specifications of the iPhone manufacturer. The Verge report already has the first screenshots of xCloud in the browser.

It is still unclear which resolution will be used in the new variant of xCloud. Microsoft continues to rely on the performance of the Xbox One S – streaming in 4K will not be available for the time being. The company would like to use the Xbox Series X components for the xCloud infrastructure this year (buy now ) switch.

The browser version should also be accommodated in the Xbox app for Windows 10. If you want to use the offer via the PC, you currently have to use Chromium browsers such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. An Xbox controller is also required to control the games.
