A few weeks ago, Studio Ghibli announced a new film and fans have been eagerly awaiting the result since then. This time it's a completely animated project – Aya and the Witch (Japanese: Aya to Majo). The first pictures now show exactly what we can look forward to.
Goro Miyazaki is following in his father's footsteps and is currently fine-tuning the latest Ghibli film. The story is based on the children's book Earwig and the Witch by Diana Wynne Jones. The British author had previously written the template for The Walking Castle. In contrast to the usual completely hand-drawn films, Goro Miyazaki's main focus here is on animation.
The studio has now published the first pictures of the 3DGC title and thus allows a foretaste of what we can look forward to soon:
Aya and the Witch is set to hit theaters in Japan in winter 2020, in this country we will have to be patient. We will keep you up to date. What do you say about the pictures?

Aya and the Witch: Next Ghibli movie will look different than you think
Ghibli author Hayao Miyazaki is back with a new film that will crawl on streaming platforms and movie screens sometime in the next three years. The next Ghibli film, however, will not be, because it will be on the screens earlier – and will look different than you might think.
As early as 2017 Hayao Miyazaki announcedthat his next film How Do You Live is traditionally hand drawn while his son Goro Miyazaki is on one completely animated work is working. As Studio Ghibli has just announced, this is an adaptation of Diana Wynne Jones children's book Earwig and the Witch. The British author also had the template in advance Howl's Moving Castle wrote what has surely waded up on his crooked legs to the best anime films of all time.
Aya and the Witch is said to be Goro Miyazaki's film, the the studio's first full 3DGC production will be. It will look different, but can still be drawn by hand. Hayao Miyazaki's short film Boro, for example, also had his head sticking out into the depths of the 3DGC, Ghibli's style remained true – which was also due to the fact that the figures were lovingly painted in advance. Aya and the Witch is scheduled to air in Japan in winter 2020; We hope to find out soon how it looks in this country.
Meanwhile, Hayao Miyazaki continues to work on his traditionally drawn filmHow do you live, which will appear sometime in the next three years. So yes: 2020 will be a good year for Ghibli fans, and Miyazaki will probably never retire.

Studio Ghibli raves about upcoming film
Across from Entertainment Weekly the studio said recently to his latest film called How Do You Live and if it is really as good as it is said, another highlight for Ghibli is in the works for the fans. The studio says:
"The film Hayao Miyazaki is currently working on has a great and fantastic story."
Yes, that's not much information at first, but Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki goes a little further:
“When Miyazaki came back and said that he wanted to make a film again, I actually said that it was not a good idea because he had already achieved so much. He then said that you can't come back and do something you've done in the past, you have to do something else. One of the ideas that came up was that you could just spend more time and more money . So that's one of the new approaches ”.
It sounds like a lot of time and money is currently being invested in the upcoming film. Coupled with the experience of the studio and Miyazakis, How Do You Live could actually deliver a great and fantastic story.
Until the new film is released, fans will have to be patient. Traditionally, everything is still drawn by hand in Studio Ghibli. A minute of the film takes around a month of work. "We hope the film will be finished in the next three years," says the studio.
