First teaser trailer for the film dampens anticipation
Those in charge at Sony have published the first teaser trailer for the Monster Hunter film adaptation with Milla Jovovich and, surprisingly, announced the move forward for the cinema release. Unfortunately, the scenes shown don't have much to do with the popular Capcom franchise.
When a film adaptation of Capcom's Monster Hunter franchise was announced, we first thought: Awesome! The iconic creatures and exotic locations are made for the big screen. However, our anticipation was dampened when it became clear that it would Paul W. S. Anderson will be responsible for the film and his wife Milla Jovovich will play the lead role. The duo doesn't exactly stand for quality, see the Resident Evil series.
In July 2020 it was then said that the cinema release had to be postponed from September 2020 to April 2021 due to the corona pandemic. Now there was the role backwards: During other cinema premieres, for example from Dune remake and James Bond: No Time to Die, to be postponed to the year 2021, those responsible at Sony announced that Monster Hunter should come to theaters in December.
At the same time as the announcement there was a first teaser trailer, and it confirms our fears: The scenes shown have almost nothing to do with Monster Hunter. Okay, we see a well-known monster in Black Diablos. But what do the military and a Gatling cannon have to do with the universe? But make your own picture:
Obviously there shouldn't be any bombshell, as the following two posters show:
In addition to Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa (Ong-Bak) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy) are also part of the cast. How does it look: Are you looking forward to the film or has your anticipation for Monster Hunter reached the basement? Let us know in the comments!
