Army of Thieves is a prequel and thus the prelude to the film Army of the Dead, which recently premiered on Netflix. The story is set about six years before its events and thus takes place at the beginning of the zombie plague. The focus is on the talented safe cracker Ludwig Dieter – played by Matthias Schweighöfer. He and his team are hired by a mysterious woman to pull off a big robbery. This almost logically leads to some complications and struggles.

Matthias Schweighöfer not only plays the leading role in Army of Thieves, but also directs it at the same time. Zack Synder, who was in charge of Army of the Dead, is a producer on the film. There are also some well-known Hollywood actors who can be seen alongside Schweighöfer. Among others, Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones, Fast & Furious 9) as Gwendoline, Jonathan Cohen (All Three of Us) as Delacroix and Stuart Martin (Crossing Lines) as Brad Cage.

In contrast to Army of the Dead, the zombies in Army of Thieves shouldn’t play too big a role, but they will definitely have one or the other appearance. You should therefore not expect a classic zombie movie, but rather a heist adventure with some comedy elements and a lot of action. The premiere of the film is currently planned for later this year, but a specific date has not yet been set. We expect it to be on Netflix in the final quarter of 2021.
