The marketing of the next films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is slowly picking up speed again. After we received a new trailer for Black Widow two weeks ago, fans can now look forward to a first look at Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. According to the current plan, the martial arts film will land in the cinema on September 3, 2021.
Simu Liu, who can be described as a newcomer in the film industry, will play the leading role in the title. As Shang-Chi, he will now be in front of the camera in his first major role. Previously, the actor had minor appearances in American television series. In the film, the martial artist will face the organization of the Ten Rings, which long-time fans of the MCU should already know from Iron Man. The Mandarin will also be featured in the upcoming project after his first appearance in Iron Man 3 caused disappointment. This role in Shang-Chi is now occupied by Tony Leung. Awkwafina is also part of the cast of the film.
The screenplay for Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings comes from Dave Callaham, who was last responsible for Wonder Woman in 1984. As a director Destin Daniel Cretton (Just Mercy) was engaged. The fourth phase of the MCU started with WandaVision at the beginning of the year. The season finale of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier can be seen on Disney + on Friday. After Black Widow and Shang-Chi, Marvel has planned The Eternals on November 5, 2021 and Spider-Man: No Way Home on December 17, 2021 for the current cinema year. Disney + will also have numerous series this year.
