Epic Games has announced the "Spotlight" concert series in the online shooter Fortnite. It starts on September 12th. With this, Epic is taking online gaming further in the direction of a virtual world.

Epic Games had big plans for the online shooter in a dispute with Apple Fortnite known. In the future, the Battle Royale game is to become a "metaverse", like the website Kotaku reported. A virtual world in which gaming is just one aspect. The plan is for players to meet in Fortnite, communicate and interact with one another, watch movies or attend concerts. With the "Spotlight" concert series, Epic Games is now taking another step in this direction.

In-game concerts

On September 12th, singer, rapper and composer Dominic Fike invites you to a concert with hits from his debut album "What Could Possibly Go Wrong". Fike's performance will take place on the Party Royale Spotlight stage in Los Angeles and will be shown live in-game.

Here are the seasons:

  • Dominik Fike Premiere – Saturday, September 12, 2020 – 11 p.m.
  • Encore 1 – Sunday, September 13, 2020 – 5 a.m.
  • Encore 2 – Sunday, September 13, 2020 – 7 p.m.

As a Fortnite player (buy now € 15.40 ) you benefit from the new outfit "shimmer specialist" or you can get the "feather defender" outfit in the item shop to match Dominic Fike's song "Chicken Tenders".

The concert by Dominic Fike marks the start of the "Spotlight" concert series in Fortnite. More artists will perform on September 19 and 26. Epic Games will announce more information in good time.

So you can look forward to more such events in Fortnite and with the plans that Epic Games is pursuing for the online shooter, we will see a lot more in this direction in the future. So what we are currently experiencing is a change in the title away from a pure game to a virtual world.
