With "Tales of Dunk and Egg" the TV broadcaster HBO is working on a new series for Game of Thrones. This is based on the book "The Hedge Knight of Westeros" by author George R.R. Martin.
Another prequel for Game of Thrones
The adventures of Ser Duncan (Dunk) and the young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg) take place around 90 years before the events of the Game of Thrones series. The squire dunk takes the sword and armor of his deceased master and wants to take part in a tournament with it. His goal is to become a famous knight. And although he has what it takes, he makes a lot of enemies. With his faithful Knappen Egg he experiences a lot of adventures.
Author George R.R. Martin has so far written three short stories about Dunk and Egg, which have been summarized in the book "The Heck Knight of Westeros". Martin would like to tell more stories about the two of them and tell about their whole life. However, that should take a while, as the author is currently working on completing the sixth novel in the series "A Song of Ice and Fire" with "The Winds of Winter". And then there is the seventh and last volume.
Should the prequel series come around Dunk and Egg, then it should be similar to Game of Thrones. The existing stories are implemented in order to continue with ideas from George Martin before the actual books appear or have even been written. At the moment the series is still in a very early planning phase. There aren't even writers for the scripts. It is also not yet clear when we will be able to see the series.
