Game sales fall short of expectations

of Andreas Bertits
Sega announced that most of the new releases, such as Persona 5 Royal, did not sell as well as expected in the 2019-2020 fiscal quarter. In general, however, you can still be completely satisfied with the results.

Loud Sega sales and revenue from games in the 2019-2020 fiscal quarter generally increased compared to the previous year. However, there are not only positive things to report.

New releases don't sell as well

Although Sega's overall result is quite good, sales of new releases such as Persona 5 Royal in particular fell short of expectations. Likewise, the New Sakura Wars and Mario & Sonic games at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020 could not meet the company's expectations. However, it should be borne in mind that both Persona 5 Royal and New Sakura Wars have so far only been released in Japan and that Persona 5 Royal is a new edition of the game from 2016. Perhaps the expectations here should simply not have been set too high.

Persona 5 Royal will be released in Germany on March 31 for the PS4 and New Sakura Wars should be released internationally in the second quarter of 2020.
