In a further statement, the organizers of Koelnmesse confirmed that the plans for Gamescom 2020 are currently proceeding as planned, despite the Corona crisis. Together with the public authorities, those responsible will regularly discuss current developments.
After last week, those responsible at Gamescom had commented on a possible cancellation of the game fair in Cologne, a statement with further details was published on Monday. Accordingly, the planning for the event in August 2020 will continue as planned. In this regard, Koelnmesse is in regular contact with the city authorities. "Dear Community. We are currently receiving inquiries about how a possible threat of the corona virus could affect Gamescom. We take this issue very seriously because the health of our visitors and partners is paramount. On March 10th, 2020 the city of Cologne has it all Large-scale events with more than 1,000 participants are prohibited until April 10, 2020. Because Gamescom will only take place at the end of August 2020, we are currently not affected by this regulation, however we will of course follow the suggestions of the responsible authorities regarding large-scale events and evaluate the situation daily and make decisions after careful consideration. Preparations for # gamescom2020 will proceed as planned for the planned date. If Gamescom is postponed or canceled by Koelnmesse, all ticket holders will receive a refund for their admission tickets. "
This year Gamescom will take place between August 25th and 29th, 2020. Other events such as the E3 2020 or TwitchCon Amsterdam were canceled a few days ago. We will keep you up to date with further information.
