It will take until 2022 until the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, but developer Daedalic Entertainment shows a little more of the creeping protagonist and his dark world in a short trailer.
The German studio Daedalic Entertainment is currently working on a slightly different approach for a “The Lord of the Rings” game. Unlike the action-packed gameplay of a shadow of war, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a stealth game, in keeping with its rather silent and devious main character.
A new trailer shows more of the dark side of Middle-earth:
Climbing instead of fighting
Even with rather harmless hobbits, Gollum only messes with when it comes to his treasure. He’s not a great fighter, but as you can see in the trailer, his strengths lie elsewhere. Gollum has become a good climber over the centuries and so the levels offer a lot of vertical freedom of movement. Gollum uses this ability while sneaking through the corridors of Barad Dur.
Still he can kill from ambushHowever, such an attack should be carefully considered and, most importantly, not attract too much attention.
An important gameplay feature is the choices players have to make. Gollum and Smeagol want to take different routes in some situationsit is up to the player to decide. The dichotomy between the two personalities is one of the most interesting features of the character.
The fans already know the fate of Gollum in one thing Interview with PC Gamer In 2019, the managing director of Daedalic Entertainment, Carsten Fichtelmann, said: “We’re looking for ways to tell stories that haven’t been shown in the films. We will tell the story of a character we know, but not repeat what you already know. “
The release for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is for that third quarter of 2022 planned. The game is to be released for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
