In addition to expensive gaming laptops and a high-end gaming PC, Aldi will also have something for all gamers on offer from next week: a new gaming computer for 900 euros! But is it worth buying an inexpensive PC? GIGA does the technology check!

Gaming PC for 900 euros at Aldi: Is the Medion Erazer Recon P10 worth it?

If the 1,500 euro gaming PC with RTX 3070, which Aldi will be offering from February 25, 2021, is too expensive, the discounter will get their money's worth from March 1, 2021. From this point onwards, Aldi Nord sells the Medion Erazer Recon P10, a gaming PC aimed at bargain hunters, through the “Aldi delivers” program. The model costs only 899 euros – This is anything but expensive for a gaming computer.

But is it really worth buying? Let's take a look at the technical data:

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-10400 (6 cores, 12 threads @ max. 4.3 GHz)
  • Graphic card: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060 SUPER
  • Random access memory: 16 GB DDR4 RAM @ 2,666 MHz
  • Mass storage: 512 GB PCIe SSD
  • Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64 bit
  • WiFi and Bluetooth
  • Connections: 4x USB 3.2 Gen1; 2x USB 2.0 type A; 1x microphone; 1x jack; 1x LAN (RJ-45); 1x HDMI; 1x DVI-D; 3x DisplayPort
  • Warranty: 3 years
  • Dimensions / Weight: 17 x 38 x 38.5 cm / 8 kg
  • Free addition: wired mouse and keyboard, one month membership to Xbox Game Pass

On paper, the affordable Medion gaming PC from Aldi also makes a very clever impression – The combination of the current i5 processor and RTX 2060 SUPER is suitable for playing in Full HD or WQHD with reduced settings. 16 GB of RAM are also perfectly adequate for use as a gaming PC.

The 512 GB PCIe SSD should fill up very quickly, but the storage space can easily be expanded with a second SATA SSD. The integration of WLAN and Bluetooth is also praiseworthy, the same applies to the extended warranty period of 3 years.

So all in all a well-rounded package – especially when you consider that the current hardware bottleneck makes it virtually impossible to assemble a cheaper alternative yourself.

New gaming PC at Aldi: price and alternatives at a glance

900 euros for a finished computer with RTX 2060 SUPER, i5 processor, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD are a solid offer in the current situation! This also shows if you take a look at the competition. With all providers you have to make big compromises compared to the Aldi PC – both in the graphics card and in the built-in mass storage. In addition, the Aldi computer comes with a wired mouse and keyboard free of charge.

In short: The Medion Erazer Recon P10 for 899 euros, which will be on offer at Aldi Nord from March 1st, 2021, is a good deal for all people who are looking for the cheapest possible ready-made PC for playing games in Full HD and WQHD resolution. The options for upgrading are likely to be limited – especially when it comes to the power supply unit and the motherboard, the discount models tend to save. If you have no problem with that, you can strike without hesitation!
