In August 2019, we reported that the creators of the hit series Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, one $ 200 million exclusive deal with Netflix had completed. With such an offer even she was actually planned Star Wars trilogy no longer an issue.

But what are Benioff and Weiss actually working on now? The deal was announced over a year ago. According to Entertainment Weekly This time it should again be a series adaptation of a multi-part novel series. Together with Alexander Woo (True Blood) they will become the award-winning Trisolaris trilogy by Chinese author Liu Cixin. The first volume was published for the first time in 2007 under the title "The Three Suns" (in English translation "The Three Body Problem") (2017 in German), the subsequent novels "Der dunkle Wald" and "Jenseits der Zeit" appeared in 2018 and 2019 in German.

The first book is about mankind's first contact with an extraterrestrial civilization, the Trisolarians. Their home planet is under the gravitational influence of three suns, which leads to the recurring extinction of life on the planet. The plan of the aliens is now to claim the earth as a new living space, at the expense of the people living there.

The three Netflix authors consider the novel series to be one of the greatest masterpieces in Chinese SciFi literature and look forward to spending the next few years bringing the work to the screen for the Netflix audience.
