Wizards Of The Coast, which has been part of Hasbro for some time now, opened a new studio called New Raleigh-Durham Studio. These should focus on developing new AAA titles for the PC and consoles based on Hasbro brands.

The new studio includes veterans of the video game industry who worked at WB Games, among others. As announced during Hasbro’s investor event, the studio is currently planning to produce new games for Transformers, GI Joe, Micronauts, and Ouija. First, a 3rd person action adventure game based on GI Joe is to be developed and the studio is currently looking for numerous new employees, including Art Director, Lead Animator, Lead Game Designer, and Technical Director. According to the job advertisements, the game will use the Unreal Engine and have both a close combat system and shooter mechanics.

Wizards Of The Coast CEO Chris Cocks recently confirmed that Hasbro would like to step into the gaming market and develop their games in-house. Hasbro has a fairly large selection of very strong IPs, so it’s not surprising that the company is now keen to enter the video game world as well. There have been no announcements of any more games based on Wizards Of The Coasts brands. This could be due to the failure of the recently published Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance lie. Or maybe Hasbro just didn’t want to reveal their entire repertoire just yet.

It won’t be long before we get more information about the new games. On Reddit Users are particularly excited about potential Power Rangers and Transformers games, and all in all, this looks like a welcome announcement.
